Last week NICE recommended that the NHS should make weight loss surgery available for approximately 850,000 people in the UK. Do you think that the NHS and therefore the tax payer should pay to put right problems caused by people eating too much and not exercising enough? Many argue there were no fat inmates in concentration camps and obesity is self inflicted.

‘Rights versus Responsibility’ is a common ethical theme. Where do you stand on this? Should weight loss surgery be made available or do you agree with the cartoon below?

Answer next week.
